End-of-Life Doula

At Lane Wellness Studio, I offer support for all of life's transitions. Through my end-of-life care services I will provide guidance, emotional support, and a peaceful presence for those navigating the transition from life to death. With respect and compassion, I will walk with you and your loved ones through this sacred journey.

In life, all transitions deserve care, understanding and love. And the end-of-life transition is no different. With a focus on gentle and nurturing support for individuals and families, I can help guide you through a deeply personal time with mindfulness and grace.

What is a Death Doula or End-of-Life Doula?

As a end-of-life doula I play an important supportive role not only for the client but also their family. I will assist the client with their needs and wants, things that can bring them comfort in their time of transition. I can connect family to community supports, I advocate to allied health professionals when no one else is available, I provide non-medical, emotional, and practical supports while acting as a facilitator. Additionally, I also provide vigil services, being a companion to the client when family cannot.

I also work with clients to build their Advance Care Plan (ACP). An advance care plan helps you think ahead about how you envision your death. This involves more than just keeping accurate records.

If you may be interested in knowing more about my end-of-life services please reach out to me for a free 30 minute appointment to discuss what I can do to support you.

                Advance Care Planning

Advance care planning is about making sure your voice is heard, even if you’re unable to speak for yourself. Put simply, it means choosing a trusted person who can make healthcare decisions on your behalf, guided by your values and wishes.

Health changes can happen suddenly and at any age. Having someone prepared to step in ensures that your care reflects what matters most to you.

As an end-of-life doula, I can support you in exploring your beliefs and priorities about your health and well-being. Together, we can walk through the steps of clarifying what you do (and do not) want in your care, and I can help you choose the right person to represent your wishes with confidence and compassion.

                 Respite & Vigil Support

At the very end stages of life, having a steady presence can bring comfort to both the individual and their loved ones. While friends and family often want to be by the bedside, there can be times when they need rest, or when it’s simply not possible for them to be there.

Doulas can step in to provide respite support, sitting quietly at the bedside when others cannot. We can also help coordinate or provide round-the-clock vigil care, ensuring that no one is left alone during this tender time. Our role is to offer calm, compassionate presence—honouring the person’s journey while supporting those who love them.

                         Companioning

After receiving a serious or potentially life-limiting diagnosis, you may find comfort in having someone outside of your family or friend circle to walk alongside you. Companioning offers gentle guidance and support as you explore your wishes and prepare for meaningful conversations and decisions about the end of life.

This may include:

  • Clarifying your beliefs and values around end-of-life care

  • Finding ways to have open, compassionate conversations with family and loved ones about your decisions

  • Gathering and recording your wishes for the disposition of your remains (e.g., traditional burial, green burial, cremation, terramation)

  • Planning end-of-life rituals that reflect your values and story (celebration of life, traditional funeral, or secular gatherings to honour your life)

                           Grief Support

Grief has no limits, it comes and goes like an ocean tides and everyone experiences it differently. As a Death Doula and Wellness counselor I can be there to help you navigate your grief in many ways. Whether through gentle conversations, creating a ritual or inviting people to find what is meaningful to them from those left behind. Grief support is catered to your individual needs and what your loved ones need.
